Ok So, This is somewhat I'm imagining e.e To go forward with. The squigly lines at the bottom are to represents these tails, Because there are 9 tailed beast within the story. The eye with the grin is supposed to be like this ultimate source of power which looks odd and disfigured and not in "control" so the tails are going to try and grab it. (Tails don't look like tails, but the next sketch will get better in detail on them.
Right now, honestly, I'm seeing a cartoonish cyclops with undefined squiggles at the bottom. I don't really get a correlation to the story like you originally proposed. I have no idea how the values or colors are going to work. How are the tails reaching to gain his power? How will we know that they are tails reaching and not just there? You need to think of this as if you were going to a book store and walking by this book...what about this image would make it jump off the shelf? It's difficult to give advice, because you keep changing things from your main idea. Time is getting short though, so you need to make some decisions and get cranking.
